I currently have an 02' Psylo XC. I ride agressive XC. My bike came w/ a Marzocchi Z1 Wedge but I had to yank it after one ride cause it had a failed seal. I bought a Psylo that day to get on the trails. Psylo's been doing ok but I wonder if it is worth going back to the Marzocchi. It has new seals and an SSVF upgrade. Which to use? Thanx

The Wedge is kinda a POS, but I'd still take it over a PsyloXC any day. If you ride remotely hard, it's not gonna last for sh*t. Zokie seals usually hold up very well, sounds like you had a little bad luck...

The best thing to do is to put the z1 on, break it in ride it for a while and see what you prefer.

I suspect the z1 will be good enough that you won't bother to swap back to the psylo.

Good advice :thumb:

Nothing wrong with the Psylo, and at the budget level you're looking at, it might just be a preference thing. The Z.1 Wedge will probably have some nasty hydraulic lockout issues, but you may never notice them, in which case ride it and enjoy!

If you find you can't deal with the spiking, switch back to the Psylo.

When I originally went to fix my Wedge Marzocchi suggested I upgrade to a Z1 cartridge. The Wedge would use a cartridge on one side and the original pumping rod in the other side (rebound set fast). I purchased the cartridge but didn't like the fact that I still had an active pumping rod on one side. I felt like my fork was mickey mouse so I bought the Psylo. Is the Wedge w/ the SSVF still weak?

I would go with the Marzocchi. If the damping is too slow, I think you can drill out the port. I've seen too many Psylo's fail.

i blew out my psylo's seals, but they were fine for over a year, and i prefer the damping (with 10 wt oil) on the psylos over marzocchi's for crazy trails

i'd say good, but watch for the seals
