Yo, this is a backup question, in case Oly cannot provide me with the info.

Does anyone know to tell the difference between an '02 and '03 Psylo SL? The oil levels are radically different between the two, but I'm not sure how to know which one I have.

Thanks!

About two weeks ago from Oly. He bought it used from someone else (who he is currently trying to track down to ask about the year). I'm assuming Oly got it w/i the year, since he thinks it might be an '03.

i think the biggest diff is the inside. The bottom of the oil cartrage thing. If there is one hole it is old if there is two it is new.

This is only a guess cuz thats what they changed between 02 and 03 for some of the other forks!

Hmm, do you mean the Pure damping leg?

I guess that's one thing I could do: look at the feature differences between the two years, and then examine the internals to see if I can find the improvement that makes the feature.

yup thats what i am talkin about
i have never been any good at the tech mumbo jumbo
i work in a shop too youd think i would get it by now
but ya, they changed it because people were drilling a bigger hole cuz it worked better (mostly on the older boxxers) so they changed it!

The easiest way to tell is to look at the upper tubes.

On the 02 they would be a darker brown.

On the 03 they would be printed on one leg with the travel gradients for the U-Turn.

As for what damping it has, if they is a knob on top it is Pure damping. If there is only a blank cap on top, then you have Hydracoil damping.

Also the "hole drilling" only applies to Boxxer.

You only drill a hole in the Boxxer compression assembly. The Boxxer is the only RS fork that uses an assembly like that.

Drilling holes in things you don't understand doesn't make them better.

thats why i ride mar.
i know those way better than RS
the only RS fork that i ever used for a good period of time was my Boxxer.
Hence the thoght of drilling, cuz it sure worked for that thing.

And i thought drilling holes was a good idea, saves grams and makes you go faster right?

I went to RS website, and checked out the various years, and the gradients on the legs is indeed the most obvious diff. So, I guess I have a '02. Thanks!

Yeah, I would not buy anything other than 'Zoke or Fox, and I would never by a RS Psylo, except I did, so maybe I need to explain myself.

I needed a new fork, and I really wanted try out the new Mav, but didn't have the $1000 right now (who does?). So I got this fork for $100. It'll last me a season until I save up the cash to buy the fork I really want. I need to swap out the spring and give it a good overhaul, though, to maximize my riding pleasure.

Thanks, again!
