Welp i'm down to a 2002 Marzocchi MXR and a 2002 Psylo SL. I am 145 and do xc/trail and light freeride/dh but plan to do lots of DH this summer at ski resort when opens. The psylo i heard is hard as crap to maintain but some people say it is good and doesn't have seal problems. I like the adjustability of the psylo should i just get the psylo or just go with the flexy MXR and it will stand up to freeride/dh?

Nevermind i'm most likely gonna go with the psylo sl ne way im a light rider and love the adjustability and read some reviews and talked to people adn they said no oil leaks if u ride it like a trail fork and not a hard hard freeride fork.

I would recommend the Marzocchi. I'd take a marzocchi over a Rock Shox any day of the week. I guess I'm just partial. However, I'm sure the Psylo will work great for what you are going to do. Hopefully it will stand up well, so you won't have to worry about maintenance too much. Good luck.

The Psylo isn't too bad but don't get all hung up on the adjustability of it. Sure, sounds neat, but I bet you'll never use it. If you're putting it on a hardtail, you might make a little use of the 3" setting, but then you've got an extremely heavy 3" fork - so why?

A Marzocchi with ECC would be a better choice in my opinion if you really want less travel for climbing. I have a Psylo XC and I'm trading up to a Z.1 Freeride this spring; I won't miss the adjustability a bit. I got pretty excited about it too, but I never use it - not even really on big climbs. I bet 90% of the people you ask don't use the travel adjust very much.

Well I'm into the adjustability but not just that i like its options but the adjustability is good because some trails i ride are XC styled and 80mm would be best but then i am going to do DH this summer and plan to run 100-125mm travel. But the weight isn't that big of a deal because my bike is light as is and im gaining .3lbs with the fork and like 1 pound when i get disc brakes and heavier tires and rims so i'm not worried bout the weight.

Plus the price is great for it's travel i would go with freeride but can't afford one right now but in year or two i can always change out i'll have more money then.

I have a 2002 Psylo SL. I use the adjustments for travel constantly. I really like the fork travel and damping, but mine's in for warranty repair right now due to damping cartridge probs. I haven't had a problem with the seals at all. Get it, at your weight you won't notice the flex as much.

Last summer I weighed about 135. Mine was great on the fire roads and light single track in the bay area . . . but after ONE day at North Star, it was history. As in I set my bike down on the ground half way through a run and the oil magically transported itself onto the ground. Psylo = Ok heavy XC fork but not DH. MEH
