They tend to leak oil. All my friends who had phsylo's on their Dirt jump or trail bikes ended up replacing them becuase everytime the fork got rebuilt it would start leaking out of the main seal all over again. most of the time the lockout blows out after a couple rides.

My Psylo XC has been fine for 7 or 8 months now. I weigh 230ish and have taken it on many a drop to flat with no complaints, I even bottomed it out a few times.

For real!!??
I'm looking at a bike right now, and the main reason I'm not getting it is the Psylo on it! (the 8" brakes are dependant on the thru axel Tulio, so no Fox swap:mad: ). You weigh 230? I figure with gear I'm at 215 or so. I'm most concerned about pogo-ing down nasty descents. How has yours been??????

**edit** did you upgrade the springs?

My 02 SL has been fine seal-wise. It's a bit flexy, but the 03s are supposed to have an improved arch and supposed to be stiffer.

I haven't put new springs in yet, but even in the rough it has been a pretty well performing fork. The only problem I have is the 8" rotor talk alot due to a bit of flex. Other than that it has performed well.

Hmm...I'm a hefty 270#. I've had my Psylo XC for almost 2 years now and it's never leaked a drop. It's been through a lot, urban drops (up to 3 or 4 feet), some trips to the North Shore in B.C. I'm a big fella and I'm not nice to it, but it's still kickin just fine.

And yes, I have the X-firm springs in it.

Is it really squirmy in the chop? I hate the feeling of turning the bars in nasty roots/ruts and having a delay in the wheel following. seriously, this fork is keeping me from buying the bike. i can't afford to buy a new one on top of the bike price....

I have an 02 Tullio and it seems stiffer than the Atom 80 I rode before this fork. I think the thru axle makes a world of difference on this fork.

I have had no leakage whatsoever. However, I don't feel the forks internals do anything to control the travel. I feel like the fork is just there and moves up and down when it hits a bump. I wish Fox would make a thru axle fork soon.

I spoke with the good folks at Fox this week on this very issue, and was assured that they were NOT putting out a thru-axel anytime soon. They don't feel the need with the stanchions they have now. Bummer.

I think they are loosing sales because of that very attitude. Some of us like our 8" rotors, I'm not gonna put an 8" on a standard dropout fork!!!!! I love the way those forks ride, I wish Fox would wake up.

I'm putting a new fork on my AC with my tax return. It'll probably be a Sherman.

What shock are you running on you AC? That swinger on the '03s is super nice, if untested.

I feel you on the 8" rotors. I think by mid summer/fall I could pop for a 'Zoke or Manatou thru axel....$$$$$$$ ;)

Rear shock? The RS Pro Deluxe. It's junk, but it works for now. I see a Romic in this bikes future when the RS blows.

I really think Manitou has got it together. I love zoke products, but I wanna give Manitou a try. The theory behind their damping method in the forks makes alot of sense.

I haven'y spent any time on manatou's new forks to have an opinion yet. the swinger shock are sooo plush. The air version is insanely sweet, but I need the coil.

I rode a 2002 Psylo for about 3 months. That whole time i did nothing but cross country with no more than 2' drops. It leaked all over the place. I think that if you get a good one it will treat you well. But if you happen to get a lemon you will know in a short amount of time.

This is exactly why I won't buy a fox for my primary bike, although I did try a vanilla out for a few rides when they were first released. I hadn't committed to 20mm wheels then, but ruled out the fox at the time because it was dripping oil throughout the rides I went for with it. Fox did update the seals 6 months later. Also, the tullio psylo I demoed at the same time seemed noticeably stiffer, so I went with a psylo sl tullio instead. And I want to stay with thru-axle not just because I have two 20mm wheels built up, but also because of how much stiffer it is over standard QR.

If fox made their forks with a thru-axle I would probably buy a vanilla tomorrow. As it is, I'm getting a sherman firefly in the near future. My psylo has been a great fork, no leaks, no problems, and only one complaint: no preload for the spring. Seems like they could work that in even with the u-turn system. I'm not quite heavy enough for the firm spring (what I'm using right now), but too heavy for the stock medium spring. I thought about buying the '02 race internals, but it's not worth the price.

I can definitely recommend the psylo sl tullio based on my experience. The pure (aka TPC) system is nothing special though, out of date compared to what the other manufacturers use in their top model forks.

If it's rideable, i'm on it
You guys are giving me alot of hope as i weigh in as a lightweight, about 145lbs. I own 3 Pyslos(1 SL and 2 XC).One XC and the SL are Thru axles and the other XC is QR.
When i made the decison to go with the Pyslo's it was a big decsion for me but after reading as much as i could find on RM i decided to give it a go.
So far no problems and the QR XC was on my Kona Chute which i use for drops last summer and not aproblem.I figuare that i am a lite weight so that helped. Now my wife has it on her XC bike so she has more options and i upgraded to a Jr. T on the Chute. That way i have the 2 Thru axles and she has the QR which she loves:D
