I am looking to pick up some good trail building tools, any one know of a source for pulaski's and Mcleod's?

I think a bunch of years back, Rockshox was sellin them, but I looked on their site and couldn't find any!

any of you trailbuilders know where I can get em?

lowes and home depot.
every town has about a dozen of each.
spend the $$$ to get the best quality. they'll last much longer.
i do alot of buisness with lowes, and i've never had trouble taking a thoroughly abused broken shovel or mattock back for a replacement.

I found mine at a Fire Supply. Check the yellow pages or google for your area. Or call your local fire department and ask them where they buy their gear

Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
Shulaski Custom Trail Tools
Tel: 678-410-8021
Email: traildesign@mindspring.com
shulaski@yahoo.com

Tools created by the founder of the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew, Mike Riter, and Charlie Shultz, Southern Off-Road Bicycling Association (SORBA) crew leader are designed specifically for trailbuilding. Shulaski currently offers two basic trail tools.

The Shulaski
A redesigned pulaski/adze hoe ($60)

The Mcleod
-3 prongs ($40) is light weight and perfect for maintenance
-4 and 5 prong styles ($65 each) are more resilient for construction
IMBA members, affiliate clubs and referrals who purchase 5 or more per order will receive a discount of $5.00 per tool.

though I'm not sure those prices are accurate.

I have one of the Zak tools McLeods and a pulaski that came from Rock Shox. I like them. I gave madbob a McLeod before he moved to NC.

Great construction. They use a knurled AL handle which makes the tools a lot lighter than wooden handle models.
Unfortunately last time this was posted on the SORBA forum, prices went up to 100 bucks a Mcleod.
A little bit more $$$ but definitely worth looking into if you got the dosh.

trailbuilding around here is a little different than anywhere else.
little lightweight tools don't last long.
resin handled full on mattocks and top of the line shovels.
chains and come alongs.
6ft. steel prybars.

these are a few of my favorite things.

i wish we could use lighter equipment.
crawlin up the mt. lugging this heavy stuff sucks.
