There's a reason so many riders do it: it works. It helps you to stay low and fast. This "technique" has been around (at least) since the late '80's. I remember Percy Owens (when he rode for Free Agent) being one of the first people who really had it dialed.
I reckon those guys are all pro's and make a living racing and riding 20" bikes. Some guys do the "ugly pump" cause they suck and it makes them slower...
Those guys do it to stay low and find every bit of speed available out of the landing...
