Q re: 2012 Outback / Thule sidearm trays

I have a 2012 Outback. I have not purchased a rack yet, but I plan on buying a hitch rack.

Those cross bars blow. I'm not even comfortable putting a ski rack on there - nevermind bike trays.
If you google them (or go to some subaru forums) you'll see reports of people losing kayaks on the highway etc.

some of those OEM bars are sketchy.
i´ve broken a set off a hyundai santa fe, after driving for 20 miles with only one bike on the roof.

Great. So 80+ pounds of DH bikes have to find somewhere else to go.
Hitch is the way to go - aftermarket 2" that is.
FYI I have the 2010 (first year of the model makeover) and I was hoping they'd fix it by the time IAB got his 2012. I'm sorry to report they haven't figured it out yet.
