I read every single Tom Clancy novel through Rainbow 6 (Published mid-2001). After that, they struck a different cord...
I was actually reading 'Debt of Honor' during the Sept. 11 attacks. The premise of the book is that a crazed Japanese WWII vet flies a 747 into congress, during Jack Ryan's innaguration as VP, killing both houses and the president. Essentially resetting US govt based on people there to help, not profit. It's an interesting thought...

WINNER!

According to Sean Connery in The Hunt for Red October (the film version, at least), his character Marko Ramius was from Vilnius, Lietuva.

Ahhh ferchrissakes! I have read all of Clancy's solo fictions but assumed you were referring to a REAL commander. My entry above commanded the chess automaton Napoleon to some dubious victories in the REAL world.
