Does anyone have some pointers about DH in Quebec?
I'm going there in a few weeks. I know Bromont and Mont Ste Anne are there, but i have zero practical info. So are these parks any good? How bout accomodation, rentals (can't bring my bike) bike stores, bike community
Is Mont Tremblant any good? Other spots?

In the 3 weeks that i'll be there, i've about one week for riding. Anyone have a suggenstion on how and where to spend that time?

Where are you going to be staying? Quebec City or Montreal? Mont. Ste Anne is about 40 minutes from downtown Quebec City and Bromont is about 45 minutes from downtown Montreal, but from one mountain to the other is 2+ hours. Tremblant doesn't allow mountainbiking except for the one race they do a year.

I haven't ridden Ste Anne, but I've heard great things. I've also heard that there is a lot of stuff that you need someone to show you. I was in Quebec City recently and a friend of mine who lives there said they've been working on the trails a lot this year. Bromont is amazing and well worth the trip. Not a huge mountain, but great terrain.

That's about all I know. I'm sure there are locals who can chime in.

well in montreal there are a number of shops, most decent and a couple rent bikes. My depends on where you are going to be. As for the resorts there is Pointe-Fortune which is about as far west of montreal as bromont is southeast and has been really getting rave reviews from the guys I know, it's also less popular so you should have clearer trails/jumps/stunts, and you can swim there too. However, it's nothing like st anne as far as vertical. If you do go there you might want to take the extra hour and a bit to Ottawa and check out some of the shops there.

Where are you staying? Quebec is huge! I know montreal and its evirons best, maybe there's a Quebeqois here who can help you out with the province's capital.

Hi,

Both Bromont and Ste Anne offer rentals for high end DH bikes on site.

Riding is great at both places, Ste Anne has almost twice the vertical but Bromont probably has a little more variety in the type of trails it has to offer.
Check out their web sites for rental info and trail maps etc.
Or if you have any further questions just PM me.

Lots of technical trails and rocky terrain, nasty in the wet weather which we have had plenty of so far this year, however looks like were in for a little dry spell now which should help dry up the terrain.

Thanks for all the info
I've no specific place to stay, I'll be travelling around. So I'll squeeze in a few days on both locations.
Can anyone advise a few good shops around Montreal and Québec city?
Untill what date are the resorts open for downhilling?

cheers

untill it starts snowing i think. I could be wrong as I don't go very often.
in montreal the guys in the know as far as DH and stuff are at MartinSwiss(check the link in Transcend's sig), and la Porte A bicyclette. ABC might be able to help you out too, they're on avenue du Parc, or more commonly known as Parc, it goes right up the middle of our island. Martinswiss is towards the ouest end of Sherbrooke, on Victoria. The guys there might even show you to our dirtjumps.

try looking at a map or actually driving between the two...

from montreal, Bromont is an hour, St-Anne is 3 plus change.

Just went to St-Anne last friday, mostly technical rocky stuff fairly slow going, some decent drops (meaning i wont do them), more suited to freeridish bikes, some pedalling depending on where you're going. There are a couple of faster more DH orientated trails, and they have a fair sized biker-x track. You can rent Devinci 8-flat-8s for about 100$cnd a day

Bromonts my regular spot, faster less technical trails more suited to DH bikes. Not as many trails but each has its own flavor.
