Two of my friends have this same problem, so i figured i'd ask about it here so i can give them some help. In one case, when he's shifting from the smallest to the middle cog up front, the chain heading leaving the cog sticks to the cog, until the chain doubles up on itself. In the other case it happens when shifting from the middle down to the smallest. Both cases are with LX componentry. Anybody got suggestions? Thanks in advance.

If the spacing of the bottom bracket is not right this may be causing to much drag on the chain at the rear. Also make sure they are running the proper chain ie, 8 speed chain for 8 spd cog 9 for 9. And lastly, check to see that the chains are not worn (stretched out). Hope this helps, never heard of the problem on a bike but have encountered similar on a helicopter.

I'd look for a worn chain, or worn chainrings. Chainrings with "hooked teeth" from wear would cause chainsuck as you describe.

like Toshi said, look for shark fins on the front rings, espeacially the middle because its usually the most used. How old are your drive trains? It may verywell be time to do some replacing:eek: .

One tip, if this the route you guys end up going, try to do the whole kit and caboodle...front rings, chain, and rear cassette. The unit wears out together, and you could experience more of a headache if you only replace one component and leave the worn ones on. Just my $.02!

Good luck.:D
