Hey i was just wondering if i can remove that rubber stuff that surounds the stantions of older forkx with out it being damagaged, ie mud or dus stuff like that. THanks alot

ahh so I guess I am an idiot, the boots? what fork? usually a good idea to leave them if you ride in the mud/wet, depends on the fork too. Some it would be alright, others.. well... probably not a good idea

Most older forks had fork boots because the seals weren't very good and would contaminate the fork if the boots weren't there. If you take the boots off but overhaul your fork a lot, it won't be as bad.
