Question about Ironhorse Sunday chainring size?

I know it is a new frame that no one has, but does anyone know how small of a chainring will work on the Sunday? Or more specifically will something in the 32-36t range work? Or a name of someone at Ironhorse that would know?

I spoke to someone at Ironhorse last week but he seemed pretty clueless. :mumble:

The Sunday was designed as a race bike. It was optimized to fit a 36-42T chainring. It will fit larger, and a 34T will probably rub the top of the derailleur cable in the 11T cog.

Stick to 36-40 and you'll be all good.

If you want to climb or run 32T, the 7 Point is your bike.

So a 34T should be okay if I stay in the larger cogs on the cassette, correct? On the local trails I usually run a 34T/11-32 and never use the smallest 3 cassette cogs. Or maybe I will run a 36T/11-34.

When I get into the mountains with the bike I plan to run a 36t or larger chainring.

No climbing for me. I want a DH bike to replace my Bullit. I want a bike that will kill it on the DH but I will still be able to pedal around the local FL trails when I don't feel like riding the trail bike.

Looking around, the Sunday seems like my best option. Long seat tube for adjusting post height, geometry seems like it should still be okay for trail work, 11lb or under frame weight, and I can score one for a pretty killer deal. I can't think of any DH frame that fits all of these criteria.

Thanks for answering all my questions Dave.

DW, how does ring size effect the way the Sunday pedals? Will smaller than 36t degrade the efficiency?
