This is kind of a stupid question, but...

I'm tearing down my DH bike to sell the parts off, but I'm not sure if the rear axle is supposed to stay with the wheel or the frame?

stays with frame, just like it would with a fork

Mainly, yes. There's also a little pseudo DH course near my pad that is shut down, or soon will be.

DH in Socal is looking pretty dismal right now unless you're shuttling a lot, which I don't really care for.

Time to focus on trail riding for now. Hopefully sometime in the near future DHing will come back around.
