okay, i toasted the little things in the shoes that you screw cleat screws into. the guy at the lbs said to find the "trap door" under the insole. found that, but i can't get it open. do i just use a lot of strength until it pops out, or is there something i'm missing?

thanks,
pat

Just pry the bugger open with a smallish flat bladed screwdriver. Even if the trap door gets a little mashed at the edges, the insole will cover up the damage. You might need to cut the perimeter of the trap door with a utility knife first as sometimes the outline is not completely cut out. There could be a couple of short uncut sections. Another method is to push on the cleat plate, cleat removed of course, from the bottom of the shoe. This will force the trap door open, but sometimes the plate is not lined up with the outline of the door and it won't go.
