Im currently building a bike for DJ/4X and am wondering if anyone has some suggestions on a lightweight yet strong rimset. Ive always rode Atom Lab Trailpimps but they arent the lightest. Suggestions please!
You could ask in the DH forum too, for mo' responses. My take on the situation: the pimpiest, strongest/lightest wheelset for that sort of bike are the Mavic CrossMax XL's... they even convert in 23 seconds to accept a 20mm thru-axle. über stiff these bad boys are, plenty strong and light, not to mention CHI-CHI as all get out.
However, if you're not smooth and case tons of sh!t like my damn self, may I suggest that you lace up some Rhyno Lites to <insert-hub-of-choice-here-cough*HADLEYS*cough> and be done with it. Rhyno Lites aren't too heavy, pretty solid and best of all: inexpensive.
My 1st choice would be some Arrow FRX's, you can get the specs from www.arrowracing.com or www.unrealcycles.com. That said I have Ryhno lites (m package deal)but once they die and they will I will relace my hubs to Arrows.
