Between a rock and a hard place.
Two months ago, we put out the call to cross country riders with chain grease and fork oil in their blood, the unsung heroes of the singletrack to submit an application to represent Race Face in the 2005 TransRockies with all expenses paid.

The riding community answered and now, Race Face is proud to announce the first of two rounds in the Ultimate XC Challenge is officially underway. We've posted the rider videos and bios for you to view and vote for who YOU THINK should ride for Race Face in this gruelling 7 day, 600km epic race in August.

From a father and son team looking for the ultimate bonding experience to co-workers racing in the memory of one teammates' 4 year old daughter, each of our first four teams have varying levels of experience and brings their own motivation as to why they want to compete in this punishing race.

And now the best part - the power is in YOUR hands to choose which of these four teams will win an all expenses paid trip to the TransRockies with full Race Face support worth over $10,000!

Here's how it works - go online to: www.raceface.com/uxc , read the four team bios and watch ALL four videos. After you've watched the fourth video, you'll be able to place your vote. Then check back next Friday to see who won and watch the next four videos in the Race Face Ultimate XC Challenge.

Until next Friday,

THE RACE FACE HOME TEAM

WOW!!! This is excellent promotion for the whole event. Again, thank you, Race Face, for offering this to the cycling community. As most of you know, I'm trying to ride this for Alaina. Though I'm tooting my own horn, after watching all the videos, I was also impressed with the father/son and the duo that'll donate their entry to the family that's enduring the loss due to a bear attack. And to just think, since these are the first 4, what will the next 4 offer to choose from???

It's kind of funny to see the giant swing back towards XC that the industry is entering now. Answer with their R7, this Race Face Ultimate XC contest, etc. I think it's great, but really funny to see how cyclical things can be.
Plus, that race looks SICK. The TransAlp, TransRockies, both sick, sick, sick races...

Kinda like how there's a pic of my parents from back in 1981 in which my dad is wearing a pink polo shirt, and now all the trendy kids are wearing that exact same style of shirt, only 24 years later?

Exactly...
The bike industry is the same way. Road bikes have been on the up-swing for a couple of years now, after a long downturn, BMX racing is on the rise too, mountain bikes are (generally) flat. Not counting the hard-core guys who have been riding road, BMX racing, MTBs, etc, in the meantime.
Fashion, music, etc, it all comes back.
Being an XC dude these days, I dig the Race Face thing though...
