i had to stay at least a mile behind you or else id get blinded because you jab your rear brake so often. I landed that double ledge drop thing on dogbone(i think it was dogbone) on one foot and with 1 hand because i couldnt see that it was a drop because of your dust  , but we shall have even more fun next June opening weekend :thumb:
Yep, can't wait to hook up and ride again. Now N* is covered in snow :( Oh and that wasn't from braking, it was pure speed  :blah:

The Mono isn't heavy but it's not exactly light either, it's around 12.75 pounds with a steel spring and the floating brake. If you want light weight, the Turner DHR is around 11.5 pounds, as is the El Cuervo from Ventana. It's kind of funny, as people are getting more and more concerned about light-weight DH bikes, frames have been getting steadily heavier. M1 frames were under 11 pounds, and the Disco from Karpiel was right around 10.
The Karpiel is that light? Are there any lighter frames than the Disco, any of the single pivots? I'm not so sure you end up feelin the weight in the end seismic, but I will comment that the Foes seems to be kind of long. Not long in the cockpit, but wheelbase. That was just my impression when I rode one, but take that with a grain of salt. I've heard nothing but positive comments on their CS.

i have nothing to contribute except that the foes is an excellent bike
i really like it...

if weight is a real issue have a look at the canfield F1
if i remember it correct mine weighs in at about 4.9kg (10.8lbs) with a manitou swinger 6 way with steelspring (450lbs/in)

Yep, Karpiels are fairly light.

Hmmmm, the Canfield F1 is another alternative. I looks nice, but how does it ride as a race bike ? I know a guy who had the FattyFat, which to be seemed more like built to extreme abuse, but not very race like...or maybe I am totally wrong here

i have both the Fatty Fat and a F1

the fatty fat is kind of a weird beast with my custom setup of the chainguide it pedals awesome without affecting the suspension to a noticeable point.
i.e. you have an awesome deep suspension and great pedaling.
actually this would make for a great racebike. but then there is the weight...
the fatty fat is really heavy, and it has a pretty steep headangle.
all in all this bike is a great allround DH and freeride bike which can take a lot of abuse and still be fun to haul ass on...
mine is BIG though. i bought a large and looking back, a medium would have been the better choice.

the F1 is a very race oriented bike. it seems to be designed for one single issue: hauling ass on rough DH courses.
it pedals a little better then my my FF with the custom chainguide setup. (probably because its lighter overall and has a swinger 6way instead of an Avy)
accelerates super fast. is easy to flick around. in comparison to the FF very short. the suspension is on par with the fatty fat but it does not have that bottomless feel like the FF.
when braking the suspension squats. sometimes this tends to give you the feeling of a harsh supension but then it helps a lot to keep the bike low and stable.
the headangle is a lot slacker then on the FF

however both bike share a few problems:
paint quality sucks!!!
handlingwise they are pretty tough to manual/wheelie.
though the F1 is a huge step forward compared to the fatty fat

hope that helped

Hey, - thanks a lot for the review !
It is always great when people writes more than 3 words when descreibing this kind of stuff. The F1 sounds great ! Well, so does the FF, but the steep HA scares me a little when it comes to racing. I was wondering how an Avy would be on a F1 frame  ALso, - how muxh does the F1 approx cost ? Do you have a pic of your bikes (both of them )? I would love to see them.
Seriously, - I am considering it, but it is still difficult to choose between a BMW RL and the F1, - do you have any pros or cons concerning this choice ?

Again, thanks a lot for a helpfull response ! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

for an F1 with Avy you have to ask toshi on here, he owns one of the protos with an avalanche.

suggested retail for the F1 is about 1900 USD without shock and 2250 USD with the swinger. that makes 2450 USD with an avy.
you will need a special chainguide (boomerang at least) from canfield.
and a wider rearhub... i think 160x15.
ask Chris or whether they can help you to put together a package which includes the chainguide(mrp) and the hub(hadley).

i really cant compare the RL with an F1 since i never rode one.
the biggest advantage of the F1 is the price obviously ;)
but imho these are very different beasts.

pictures of my f1 are here:
http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91851

for more info on the bikes visit the link in my signature its quite helpful :)

the pictures show the fatty fat still with the normal chainguide setup.
they are from last fall

Well, how do you like the Avy fork compared to the Dorado ? Both look very race-like ! ALso, the F1....I have to admit...it just LOOKS fast !!
Great pictures, thanks!!

the avy is a great fork i have one of the first models from 2002.
its heavy with 4.8kg.
so no real race fork :)
the Ti models weigh about 4 kg
small bump sensivity is great, its nearly impossible to bottom out nice progressive feel. stiff for a USD fork.
i really can't give a good lowdown on my Dorado. it didn't work properly the whole season. neither Answer nor the distributor here were able to help me out properly.
right now there seems to be some movement at answer regarding these forks.
they should have a fix for the fork pretty soon.
so maybe i will have working dorado for next season...
needless to say I am still a little pissed off...

If I had a Dorado MRD that did not work for the whole season and it was mounted on my awesome cool CB F1 race bike I think I would have a stroke    :dead:

Yeah, - when only :dead: paying 1700USD, nobody should be able to demand anything :dead:

I hope your fork will be up and running again :)
