Well, we run a HO 289 out of a 66 Mustang. I only paid $400 for the motor at a garage sale 5 years ago and its still runs pretty good. The plan is to build a 347 stroker motor this winter if funds allow. A 351 is a little heavier so the 289 works good and revs real high. The suspension is where a lot of the money is. I sure wish we could afford Kings but maybe in a few years if we win the overall, again.

We are sponsored by James Duff Broncos, BC Broncos, Sinclair Gas, and a lot of local shops. In the overall, I have placed in the top 5 every year for the last 6 years. This year 1st place was $2000 and we got 3rd and 5th. I have two drivers; me and a buddy from HS.

Its the only thing that gives me more of a rush than DH and FRing bikes. I get so nervous before a race, its crazy. Ive even gotten sick after races.

We run 33" boggers in the rear and 33" buckshots in the front and no they dont rub..... much.:)

I have another 73 bronco. It has a fuel injected 91 mustang motor and auto w/ OD tranny in it. It has 4.5" lift, 34" tires, disc brakes, tilt, remote start, Ford Ranger seats, PS, PL, and a awesome stereo. Its almost done.

Do you need 4wd for this type of racing? I have this old Blazer sitting around and always tought that type of racing would be fun. Have an engine and 2wd tranny sitting around too.
Does this take place anywhere in WA?
Any links to sites for oranizers or events?

We have a lot of WA guys that show up. There are 6 races. Then they pay out $4500 to the top 5 spots. The only website right now is http://www.mountainjacks4x4.com

There are a few guys that run 2wd. This isn't just some local thing, either. They aren't pros, but they have $10,000-$20,000 invested in a rig.

Spookydave,
I need some ss hi pressure gas lines. Gas pressure of 40-60psi or so. I have all the brake lines done but I need the gas lines. Can ya help me out. PM me your number and Ill give you a call with some measurements.

They were all real clean. I use the white tuff truck for getting dirty.

Does anyone else race trucks and bikes?

I raced some guy on the highway last night in a Ford F150 and I was in a Dodge 1500 LoneStart Edition, with a hemi, and lets just say, he didn't stand a chance. Thats really it for racing cars though.

Take all the glass out and everything inside out. Get it light as possible. Even take the fenders off. Might want to put a rollbar in it if you have the tools. Strip it. Even take the rear seat out, center console.... you get the picture. Put a fire extinguisher in it, just in case. Ive seen some guys do some crazy stuff with cars.

How often do you end up replacing parts on your race rig, curious what the overhead would be. Do you end up replacing clutchs and rearends a lot, or rebuilding the engine ever?

We replaced a lot of parts the first few years. We had to find out what the weak spots were. Every year we just upgrade what brakes. We probably spend $1000 a year, fixing. We get lots of sponsors and win money at almost every race. We rebuild the motor every 5-6 years. Its not bad. Its super fun. This is the best website we have right now.

http://www.mountainjacks4x4.com/

We have about 20-40 racers at every race.

Yes thanks I looked all over that site http://www.mountainjacks4x4.com/ and there is nothing about the rules and reg's for Tuff Truck.

Google search revealed that each Tuff Truck series has it's own set of rules. Some allow very little mod's, some allow a lot. Most reqiure at least a vehicle with a roll cage, seatbelt and fire extinguisher

Sounds like a blast!

You mean one of these:

http://www.fordracingparts.com/crateengine/302smallblock.asp

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=6531

It comes with the "Z" series aluminum heads which have an intake port of 204cc's.

Pimp it out with some ARP fasteners, JBA shorty headers, an Edelbrock Thunder Series carb, and some CompCams...
