I'm thinking about trying to start a mtb team and need a little info. What do i have to do to accept money from businesses and not have to pay tax?
Can i set up a "company/team" and try to declare non-profit organization tax status?

No profit would be an extreme stretch.. can you say, "hello IRS auditors?"

As long as you spend the money you take in you will pay very little taxes because you will have very little profit.

it takes a LOT of time to run a time. a lot of stuff has to be done besides the money side of it. and can get quite expensive. many things you would never really think about start to hit you full face when you try to run a team......wish you the best if you do decide to do it and would be more then willing to help you out w/ somethings. the best advance for running a small local team is to go after some local businesses and promise them jersey space and other things if they help you out w/ whatever you want out of them.......
