It's scary how much you and I have in common. Aside from listening to Bela Fleck.
Since its staying dark later in the morning, I cant really ride in for fear of being annihilated by an F350, so I really look forward to my mornings of a hot cup a joe and some NPR on the way in. :disgust1:

Well feel free to call me a hippie again, but I listen to alot NPR and bluegrass these days just cause Im so tired of the same old sports stuff and music Ive been listening to for years. The other day I found myself tapping a-foot to bella fleck. God help me.

...and there's a reason it's called "pop" because it's supposed to cater to the masses, not the picky music snobs. There will never be this revolution where "the good bands" actually get on the radio more than the "crap".
WRONG.

check out what was popular in the 60s and even into the 70s. some great music actually charted.

that was before people realized there was a lucrative bent to it, and the big boys muscled their way in, and greased palms to get radio play.

The way I see it, you cant even get two people who really know or are really into music together without a bunch of "this band sucks," or "that band's overrated" etc. let alone an entire listnership in radio. Also there's the very nature of the "radio music sucks" crowd who will always be unhappy by what is played.

I don't care for most pop music, but my daughter does.

94.7 here local is a good station. They play crap too, but for the most part they play a good mix of alternative both new and older 80's/90's stuff. Reminds me of 91x in San Diego.

I have lived without a radio in my truck for a few years and I don't have a radio when I commute on the train, so I just now started to listen again since my new truck has tunes.

I thought radio companies and recording companies were in bed together, like Clear Channel and such. Therefore they would only play their stuff to keep the machine turning.

Again, corporations run the world and the only way to decrease their power is not to buy their stuff. It's amazing how all big TV, radio, media, recording and such are all owned by the same share holders. I am very suprised when an artist can break through all that without being part of the Disney family.

I didn't mind buying music, especially after I got a real job, but when I see bands like Metallica and record companies prosecuting their fans to put fear into people to buy records I get sick. I haven't bought a CD since, at least not new.

Have you seen the going rate for Hanna Montana tickets? My daughter asked to go for her Christmas present, when I saw the cheap seats were $280 each, I had to tell her Santa doesn't exist, therefore there will be no presents anymore.
