I did a search and found a 5 page pissing match between Stoney and another guy about which one was better but nobody had much substance.

As it works out, price isn't an issue.

I'd love to get the rail because I think it would be the perfect trail/jump/occasional race bike.

I've heard great things about the IH too.

Anybody ridden both that can give an unbiased op?
Anybody have the HA/TT dims of the Hollowpoint?

Assuming your talking about the Hollow Point 4x, Iron Horse says they are not making a 4x version for 2005. Not sure if that helps you at all.

If by chance you are talking about the ergular Hollowpoint, then they are two very different beasts.
The IH is an XC/trail bike... the rail is a 4x/trail bike.

Does the IH mtx have different geo than the regular IH? I guess I assumed the frames were the same since most 4x bikes are essentially small xc bikes.

The MTX has completely different geometry than the regular Hollowpoint. It is a purpose built 4X/ heavy duty trail bike. I actuallly just was riding mine about 20 minutes ago, its a blast! Pound for pouind, its as good of a 4X race bike as any other frame ever made IMO. Plus it pedals awesome. Its not super light though, it was made to take a beating. The bikes are super rare, there werent many made, and there is no Hollowpoint 4X model for 2005, but if you can find a 2004, they are fun bikes for sure.

I have never ridden a Rail, but I would be really surprised if thats not a sick bike too. I dont think you can go wrong with either if you can find one.

Wow you make up your mind fast.
Well, I new I had to bite or somebody else would snatch it up. I've wanted one forever and this was just a good excuse.

Oly, even with the rail and the DHR, it's still less than my gf just spent on a leather living room set.

Get the rail if you can .The dude that said it is'nt being made for 05 is 100% correct. I have a friend who owns a rail .I've riden it and it is awesome.Chances are it'll last a whole lot longer than most 4x frames ,it is way overbuilt.just my .02
