Sounds like they were at the wrong cathloic church. My adopted sister is a lesbian pueblo indian cathloic and she has no problems at her church/kiva.

Her tribe practices a kind of pagan catholoism I'd call it.

I'm not Catholic so I can't really comment on the in's and out's of this issue. However there is an openly gay church less than a half mile from my house and I have had conversations with the pastor of that church (who is gay). We disagree on some interpretations regarding homosexuality and whether it's sinful or not, but he is a great guy and we've been able to very pleasantly "agree to disagree" on the issue.

While a gay church does give me that knee jerk hertro evangelical Christian "ick" feeling somewhat, they are very much within their right to start said church. That said, there are just as many overweight TV pastors (my former associate pastor for instance was well over 100lbs. overweight) and gluttony is a sin just as much as sexual relations with the same sex is according to the Bible.

That's very true!!!

and gluttony doesn't stop with weight... it can be applied to status... a lot of batpists i see are very much into status.. even their churches have become bigger than the local movie googleplex. where my ex takes my daughter to church used to be a huge retail mall...

I went to a small church in my younger years and there were a few gay couples that went. I have never had an issue at all with a person's sexual preference, but that's just me. I would not go to a church that felt the need to ban someone from participation based on sexual preference, no matter was religion they were. I would think a church would be more open, even if they don't agree.

<edit> I was raised Catholic.

the wafer is supposed to represent jesus body, and the wine the blood, after the priest bless them.
i´m pretty sure catholicism justifies that with a quote from the bible i dont recall right now.

and to eat it, you´d have to sincerely repent your sins, after you confess and you are given a penalty. eating the wafer represents you are accepting jesus again and thats kinda washes your past sins.

eating the wafer while wearing an gay pride emblem is kind of a mockery of the whole repent your sins and do the penalty, since gayness is a sin for catholics.
not that i share the idea, but i can understand what it represents to catholics.

in a way, is kinda like wearing a "i love bacon" tshirt on yom kippur in judaism, or having a ramadan feast in islam.

I never understood why gay people want to change a corrupt and vile institution. It's like seeing blacks get up in arms because the local KKK chapter won't accept them.

Duh. THEY HATE YOU AND WANT YOU TO DIE. Take a hint. Start a new club...

Very true N8 very true. Churches wallow in their excess while 9000 people in Africa die every day.................IMO alot of people are going to have some 'splaining to do to Jesus when they meet Him.

That's one of the reasons why my wife and I left the super fundy mega SBC church (1000+ people on a Sunday) we were attending. Every Sunday morning it was a big show, what kind of clothes did you wear, what kind of SUV you pulled up in, blah blah blah. All the while I got treated like the "strange kid" because I wore jeans, flip flops, and my shirt untucked.........:mumble:.......dude Jesus wore flip flops.......LOL <rant off>
