The previous thread on linkage forks has got me thinking about Rake and Trail on DH bikes.
I have been DHing long enough (around 13 years!) to have seen the rake on DH bikes go from an XC-inspired 70ish degrees to the now accepted norm of around 64 degrees. With this change Trail measurements have also increased, adding stability but at the expense of some "flickability". Is this the reason that wide bars are now popular? To give extra leverage on this extra trail?
The linkage fork thread also raised some questions; What is more desirable, a reducing Trail (like on most telescopic forks) or a constant Trail throughout the suspension travel?
