I've got a couple of Dell workstations. One is getting replaced and the plan is to pilfer the memory from one and put into the other. Both are the same speed etc Rambus but one has 2, 256 bars and the other has 2, 512 bars. Can I remove the two dummy bars and combine the two different pairs to get 1.5 or does Rambus require the same size bars in the 4 slots?

There is no problem installing different sized chips as long as the pairs are the same.

IIRC putting the biggest set of chips in the first two slots was important to get maximum performance.

Thanks.
Now a networking question:

I installed a 2nd network card in a workstation and had to disable it in order for the pc to recognize that it was still connected to the network thru the onboard network connection. Is there anything special I need to do as far as settings to get these two cards to play nice or will the issue go away once the 2nd card is hooked up to the cross cable device it's for?
