While I know I can die in a car, I still have myself buckled in, wrapped in a steal cage that is filled with air bags and other devices. Not that someone dying is the reason I wont want rampage, because I will watch, and if someone dies I can accept that. But, that's not the best comparison really.
Have you ever seen some video footage of a frontal 70 mph car against car crash? No? That's because there is none. Car manufacturers and insurance corporations "forbid" such tests to be made public because there is no device , steel cage or what so ever that will really protect you or some major parts of you from getting transformed into mush.

A very good friend of mine is doing numerical sims of car crashes. Sometimes they do crash in reality. Mind bending...

Nope, I've never seen the footage.

But, I did see it in a test lab a few times (I routinely work with the crash testing group at Nissan)

Oh, and I did walk away from a 55 mph vs 55 mph head on collision where I was the driver of one of the vehicles. It was a fairly direct hit, though I did yank the wheel as hard as I could at the very last second to try and "deflect" the blow, which is why the passenger side took more of the hit than it being perfectly square.

Both myself and the other driver walked away injury free (I did get some rug burn on my arm from the air bag coming out of the steering wheel and some wicked whiplash.

For reference, my engine block cracked, my buddy wanted the motor for his wifes car but the block was split nearly in half. It also hit the radio and hvac controls and popped them out of the dash. No door could be opened easily and the car was twisted enough we couldn't get the trunk open either. Well, we opened it with a pry bar :D

Other view added just for fun.

Claudio is going to a course preview. He said he's getting a little nervous about it...
I love his world cup and ice hockey downhill racing previews, so I look forward to this one, I wonder if rampage will scare him quiet on his run or if he'll squeal more than usual?

Niko Vinks new steed is a beauty. It'll look lovely in all the slow mo videos of red dust been blown around and jerseys flapping in the wind.

As I've said in other rampage related threads all I really want to see is people going fast, destroying turns and then blasting big gaps. As cool as tricks are they look better (to me) on dirt jumps and I'd rather see people taking a race run down a big old hill than a competition of who can fit in the most tricks.

Still. Of course I'll watch, it's fucking Rampage and anyone riding it deserves much respect and admiration. Keep rampaging Rampage, can't wait to see just who's the rampagiest rampager out there this year.

EDIT: turns out I was beaten to the Vink news punch by several hours

The funny thing is, during my buddies Rampage party, one of us drunk fools will probably hurt themselves more than 98% of all the riders at the event.

Need to tell Gwinn,,, tires, brakes and chains slow him down. He will realize how much faster he is when he just has a set of grips and levitates down the world cup courses...

Now back to rampage.....

Thoughts for course
Oh, we ARE talkin rampage! But you bring up a strange thought: maybe kenan harkin's ramblings weren't as inept as they seemed at the time!!

Thanks.

I thank the engineers that I know in automotive crash testing every chance I get for keeping my annoying ass alive.

I realize I got very lucky, but, I think I'd still rather do that again, then attempt some of that rampage stuff haha.

I added a second pic for reference, you can kinda see how even the roof appears slightly tilted towards the passenger side. The roof had visual buckling. Not a straight panel left on that car, even one of the trail lights was mostly jarred loose.

Is Remi and Kyle Strait on the new commy V4 or they use the older, V3 (FR approved)?
The V4 is for racing.

Maybe Claudio will ask Brendog to ride with him in the course preview.

Rampage is awesome, because bikes. And if you want to see someone tempting fate, watch the Matt Hoffman documentary on netflix. If these guys were serious, they'd strap 20 lb motors to their bikes so they could clear bigger gaps.

Definitely makes Aggy look bad... But on the other hand, I would feel the same way in that situation. I can't really think of a good solution.

Seems like Aggy takes it way too serious with this "we are the Fest and don`t let other people ride our stuff, because we - or better - I am the Fest".
Really bad attitude, which showed in interviews lately aswell.

Care to post any links?

Also I think the problem isn't Aggy or any of the riders. They were put into a shitty position by the orgnizers. The venue should change place every 2 years.

oh come on... redbull made a friggin movie about it... how much more contrived can you get?!?! they're just trying to drum up interest in any way they can. My guess is, as many of the riders mentionned, pretty much all the lines have been scoped and built. For the viewer, this means more of the same, which I can't imagine is a recipe for increasing (or retaining) viewership. They have to drum up interest one way or another....

that said, Aggy's line is so friggin' sick, I'm not surprised everyone wants to ride it! I for one would welcome other people riding it, if only to see the different styles launching off of it.

Ive allways loved rampage but I dont want to see anyone ride the same line as last year..
This could be just a trick theyre pulling but if those guys are really serious about protecting thier lines from last year theyre all a bunch of turds, no matter whos to blame for having the comp in the same venue.
