Towing the party line.
I'll be in Virgin, Utah all week digging for Team Aggassiz and firing some photos and updates online in various places from the 2010 Redbull Rampage Evolution.

Stay tuned for coverage starting tonight from the desert where it's currently 105f...and probably going to stay this way all week.

Pretty bummed, I was supposed to be going, but alas my van had other plans and emptied my bank account.

Yeayes!! Rampage is coming so stoked, wish I could be there.

I'm hoping the weather, mostly the wind, don't affect the contest, want to see everyone have as level a playing field as possible.

Predictions?

My money's on Garett Beuhler, after that, Romo's had an itching to reclaim his throne as a heavy hitter for quite some time, and he was major bummed to miss it last year.

For those not liking the wood stuff...keep in mind this is Redbull, and this is Evolution! I don't like it either, but stunts are here to stay...kinda. I DO think it will/is starting to dwindle and big mtn/natural terrain riding will return. But who doesn't want to see someone backflip a 60footer?? I mean, really...

My bros and I hoofed those friggin bikes up every crack and crevice of the Rampage in 2008 for Redbull, and I gotta say...there was a whole lot more fear floating around than I EVER imagined possible. Awfully quiet on those hills.
Too broke to get there this year, so Good luck fellas!

Oh, and Friggin Gee Atherton. Damn. He WILL be the first guy to win a slopestyle comp with his feet never leaving the peds. MAD F*CKING STYLE. And SPEED! Holy crap! He almost took me out 3 times because I thought I had plenty of time to keep cleaning the lines!

Predictions?

It'll be hot as hell

Doods will be broken off

The dirt will be loose

Red Bull sponsored riders will be everywhere

I will inevitably wander over to MTBR and accidentally read SMT's ramblings and will be both shocked and awed at the idocracy

Most importantly I will be amazed at the level of riding, skills and commitment that will have taken place.

Hats off to teh sherpas, too.

find it funny how 95% of the riders are from USA and CAN. I guess other countries dont produce huckers, just fast racers.

How was it determined who pre-qualified? Some of the pre-qualifiers have not done much in the way of any competition lately, compared to guys like Greg Watts, Yannick Granieri, Casey Groves etc...

The upper left thing, I believe, are one of the panels where the judges are supposed to stand. There are a few of them scattered across the 3 zones.

The dirt kicker is a step up onto a big ass rock. So far only Alex Pro has been talking riding that line as the end to his run. Could be really interesting, sort of a dirt skatepark line.

Riders have been dropping in on and off on some of the lower features, just testing things out.

Very true.

There was a thread on emptybeer, this dude wanted in, but couldn't get a sponsor to get him over here. Too bad, I think it would be entertaining.

speaking of that- I've been looking for the (who I think is Ukranian) guy who does HUGE stuff on his DJ hardtail. Full on hucks, and a reeeaaaaally long backflip. I wish I could find it- was a pinkbike VOD and I have had no luck- anyone know the vid?
I think that guy should have been invited.

As for that drop up top...he rag dolls on one attempt, I think he landed another.

I too am worried this year - Really hoping all the riders stay safe.

Any one else pick up on Andreu not riding a Kona? Looks like he's on a Summun.
yeah, and is that Kelly McGarry on the Karpiel? After having dedicated so much resources to getting him that sweet bike, not only having it stolen, but then having him ride another company's bike, that's got to be hard for Corsair to swallow...
