My first thought was that Fox finally heard the complaints of the mismatch of various shades of Kashima between their forks, shocks, and dropper posts, and decided to do one better by letting you get the same mismatch on just the fork.

I quite like that new Altitude too.

Shallow (and possibly unpopular) comment about esthetics: I find the color-matched stickers on the fork and rims makes an otherwise fine-looking bicycle look like a cheap department store bike.

So, as I have mentioned, this is the first new Altitude since 2013 that I am sitting out. Partially because I can’t really ride this year, but also because my ‘21‘s are still perfectly excellent, and capable beyond what I can do with them.
Lots of improvements, for sure. Maybe in ‘25, but not this year.

I still love my ‘21 Altitude, although I could be tempted by one of the alloy frames. Maybe run the ‘21 as a lighter/steeper trail bike in the shorter travel settings then the new one as an enduro sled…

So, yeah, I have two identical Altitude frames, ones is 150/160 (air), and one is 170/170 (coil air). I think this fits my needs just fine right now. But the improvement list is pretty excellent, they have definitely been listening.
Threaded BB
Mullet adjust without separate part.
Well executed burrito holder.
two water bottles ( or tool spot)
Headset reach adjust.
Ride 4 (nine was greedy)
regular cable routing
size specific rear center
Stayed with 30.9 seatpost
Reasonable ST angle
lower COG

On paper, hits everything that I want, but that’s not enough to spend right now.

My 2018 Spartan remains on duty as my big bike in the fleet, but I think this new Altitude just became the #1 contender to eventually replace it.

Maybe Shimano truly wireless will come out next season, then I might be in.
Serious question. Why?
Why anyone would want a plethora of batteries all over their bikes they need to continually remove to charge or replace versus ONE charging port and internally wired components? honestly baffles me.

Do you mean as opposed to the current gen of Di2?
Because I usually keep components a lot longer than frames, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if 27’ and on frames don’t even have cable routing, besides maybe the rear brake line.
Also, the newer Shimano 12 shifts so, so much better for me than the older 11, period. That’s why.
I also move components around between 2 or three bikes, and to say that will be easier is an understatement.
In other words, I have my valid reasons.

I simply meant. Living with millions of batteries to ride a fucking bicycle isn't really progress

Guess, who's dealt with far too many malfunctioning electrical components this week?

I also keep components a long time. Eg. I don't own a single 12spd component as I think it all represents poor VFM and increased weight with poorer performance.

I don't see that being very likely BUT... Even if it were to happen.. internal electrical cabling is nothing a drill couldnt achieve
