funniest part of that vid is Gilly playing the "old" E biker at the start. Dude still kills it on a Dirt jump hardtail and BMX.

Unrideable, changes effective crank length.

But what one crank takes away in torque the other gives back.
I'd try them if they had something in the middle of the pedal. I get that they are grippy but on a hardtail you often don't get your foot back on in the right spot, if you miss the front bit there's little support and the pendulum would make it more awkward than normal.

If there was a low Q factor Saint crank I'd be tempted, but that's a solid pedal bulge.
I have just gone from pedal bulge pedals back to Horizons and the lower Q factor is nice.

They will have zero affect on crank length, will act more like a lower BB.

If it's diagonally down wouldn't it make the crank behave like it slitlghtly longer?

Or is my brain in Z Crank mode?
If you imagine the path your foot would take, it would just be a circle of the same radius as the cranks but with the center point lower.

Unless your ankle can rotate 360 degrees, and if that is the case you have bigger problems to deal with.

I like the idea, but at that price I just wouldn’t risk it. It’s a swolen market and most people already have a preference.

I know there are some who think there bike can never be low enough, I hope they find some of these.

I'm ready to give these a chance.
I think there’s loads of benefits, but it looks to me that the axle bulge makes it hard to actually get your foot onto the minimal frame area.

Unless you ride really center of foot over the axle, surely you’re not able to actually get much purchase with your fore foot on the axle side?

Wouldn't this also feel weird to pedal? I remember the old days with tall pedals that placed your foot 10-12 mm above the axle, that felt weird. So why should the other way feel better?

The Andrew major review is pretty good. I’ll be interested to see what he thinks of the podiums with the better bearings.

The fact that they return to horizontal, and cup your foot, makes them sound like a good option for DH racers who don’t want to clip in, and lowering the effective bb height without sacrificing chainring height is a nice benefit.

People swearing by a slab of aluminum with some screws on the internet and bringing more fools into the herd? Sounds like a Ponzi!
I swear by them for me, same as hardtails.
But I get that a dual suspension bike with clippy clappy pedals would be faster and safer, but I don't care.
I'm happy with my $390AUD flats, haha!

damn,

its not for tiny feet
Or people who know what "Q-Factor" is.

68-73mm Saints with the Syntace Numbernine pedals feels pretty wide, it felt a bit silly on a hardtail.
I'd like to see what the lean angle is compared to normal pedals, I like to pedal in corners, coz mountainbike.

I'm a US 11 so 4 full sizes above the recommendation for these pedals gadget boy.

These are destined to fail. Just like those massively long platform flat pedals that were supposed to be game changing. or any of the other super thin massive axle bearing bulge pedal designs really. But just like those there will no doubt be a small niche of people who'll swear by these too. With mostly blinkered enginerding reasoning they'll be as keen to share their merits as a Vegan with their dietary requirements. ignoring any downsides. Like so many "innovations" in mtb the hanging below the axle, self righting stirrup style pedal isn't a new idea/design. Just a new product for the mtb market.

Seems to me actually bothering to persevere and learn how to control your foot positioning on a flat pedal without "aids" (sticky soles/big pins etc.) is only prevalent in BMX and dirt jumping anymore. Thing is. You can't just queue jump that stage by buying flat pedals and shoes designed specifically to maximise mechanical grip. And for general riding and goofing around I've definitely always found a need for balance between locked in foot grip and freedom of foot positioning/placement. A design which locks you in even more and places your foot below the axle will naturally also remove even more of that.

Size 14 and crampons or one up have been perfect...
Lol I haven't seen fly paper pedals in EONS...what a blast from the past and from when thin started...

I'd be skeptical to try a pedal with no center, not seeing alot of confidence and durability happening..pedal strikes happen, bends and crushed areas happen...that's with a solid platform...can't imagine these..

Not everyone needs a dainty q factor like it's figure skating

Damn it so if I buy them I hate America or if I don't buy them I hate America? These are Canadian products correct?

I may or may not have already thrown my money at those fools with the strange pedals.
Good timing. Our money is worth squat
