And then there is CNY, which is west of, say, canastota and east of Shortsville. Usually includes Watertown and Ithaca. (Which is really in the Finger Lakes region).
Anything further south is Southern Tier.
Does CNY go as Far East as New Hartford/Utica?
Shortsville is about 5 miles east of me it's the size of a postage stamp surprised anyone ever heard of it

In the cleavage of the Tetons
And where the Mormon tablets were 'discovered'. (Well, technically Palmyra)
In an area rife with magic mushrooms.
Hey Cecil, do you know Phil Furfari from the Winged Pheasant golf course?
Would you say you were from CNY or WNY, (or something else?) Finger laker?

My own world inside my head
:stupid:

And began to dig. Man up, playa. The trough is no place for a nap.

On a side note, my wife didn't believe me that those sorts of things existed. I showed her a pic from Satyricon (one of the better punk venues in town).

Its amazing how many drunk mother f'ers manage to wiz in that between sets.
At least your bars have a troth, ours has a slanted floor with ice poured across the low side

My aunt and uncle built a trailer park in Palmyra in the 50's and 60's. My dad's family are from Rochester. I always thought that's Upstate... correct?

Nowhere Man!
However, to anyone south of the Bronx, anything north (or West) of, say, Kingston/ potown, is considered upstate.
You go with what they say. As far as we the folks that live in Western NY we disagree. We think we are distinctly different then folks who live upstate. To me if you can take the Commuter train there from Grand Central it is Upstate. It even says so on the sign that directs you to the tracks that services those lines. Even the ones that stop in the Bronx.... Its kind of like all the Yinzers in Pittsburgh that live in Washington County think they are separate from Pittsburgh because the Bus doesn't go there....
