The horrible/awesome part about this? I tried this with a friend and he fell for it. Took him almost 2 hrs to realize what had happened.

Hmm is that common with Jeeps? My brother had a cherokee with a bad electrical gremlin.
He still got a half pound of mids for it.
One that old you'd probably be okay. Lights, battery, starter, thats about it in that old tank.
I don't even see how it could get out of there. It pretty clearly can't go forward any more and I don't think it can back up either without swinging it's front left wheel over the edge.

As far as Jeeps having electrical issues...only electrical issue I ever had was the interior light dimmer switch that was in my '96 ZJ....I think dust got in the module and disrupted the contact (sliding dimmer switch is a vehicle anyway?....dumb).

a friend in high school had one.....early 80's vintage grand cherokee/waggoneer/whatever....constant electrical problems....finally burned to the ground in her driveway.
My Uncle and his then girlfriend took me and my little brother, I was maybe 9 at the time, over that road. As I recall it my Uncle's relationship with that woman ended somewhere mid descent.
I did see a CJ5 in a ball of flames on the side of the highway last summer.....
