Nice! Geothermal? You might be able to score some great rebates for energy efficient building practices (if we can get the programs set up in time... not much details yet, but we made this public last week. Lots more to come.)
No geothermal, electric water heater. Electricity is so cheap in Qc that no other system is really worth it right now. Actually, I think that the heated floor will be the secondary source of heat. Wood stove (I will have access to free wood) will be the main one.

edit: I'll check further for programs to possible rebates for insulation or else. We'll try to adhere to LEED but without the constraint of the actual program.

They are pricier than floorboard heaters, for sure. The thing I like most about them is that you can put anything up against the wall anywhere, fabric or not. And they are super-efficient, so they pay off in the long run, IMO.

Snowmageddon today, at least relatively (we don't get the multi-feet dumps like the Sierra/Cascade range). Was out packing some trails in this evening.

Saw some dude in Lowes wearing one of these. Ordered a pair as soon as I got home. Can't believe I didn't think of this as a stocking stuffer for my wife...

The old world
is that toshis kid?
Hah, certainly a Japanese connection here. My daughter watched her first ever movie yesterday and naturally I completely nailed the selection by making it My Neighbor Totoro. Kid loved it, so I decided to get her a Totoro plush toy for her birthday, and Amazon recommended I also get her creepy giant bear for 199€.
