There needs to be cake.
When your battery is proper munted it can drop to a negative voltage under load. This one probably had two dud cells that changed gender under load.
I bought a battery analyser but I found it to be pretty useless in the real world.
You need a very clean battery post and a good amount of force to get a perfect connection to do a proper test.
A lot of analysers have a gator clip so a mech will connect it to the terminal and tell you your battery is more shit than it actually is. If you remove the terminals, fair enough, but I can't see your normal auto store person doing that.
