^^ Gout attack. Uric acid crystals, called tophi form around the joints. In addition to being excruciatingly painful, the tophi can ooze white puss making the hands useless.
This is why I made a dramatic lifestyle change and have to take meds everyday. No booze and an extremely limited diet. It sucks, but the above alternative is indeed an unacceptable reality.

Tomato Hornworm? I've had them in the garden in years past.
When you have friendly biological control species (a wasp) in your garden, they lay cocoons on them so their babies can devour it alive...

judging by the radial aircraft engines I'd say arctic circle and Russia or upper scandinavia.
Mind you I guess they could also be more modern Canadian ones as they seem to have have no guns in the turret area?
