Nowhere Man!
This is a thing that struck me on my visit to the US of Freedom; the lovely way cities are built in straight grids. Navigating in many yurpean cities is a nightmare with twisting streets without any logic. I attributed it to the fact that your side of the Pond never had to worry about being invaded by the romans and such..
That is Dubai

..and the U.S. made all those straight roads by leveling anything in existence historical, signifigant, green or owned by it's citizens. If a factory needed a road, you'd better get the F*** out. Progress and concrete over culture and humanity. ;)

Welcome to the grid.

In the bathroom, fighting a battle
This is almost as bad as going over the grapevine from LA to Bakersfield. You come over the top and its long, flat, and straight....
Yes, but that stretch leads to Primm, where the the Tree Bar lives, the only casino bar in the world that won't kick you out if you bring a Boston Terrier to the bar, place her on the bar and order her a drink. I also saw guy puke all over the craps table, and everybody just kept playing like nothing happened. Primm is a special place.

Wait. Hold on. Have you ever been in a truck that burned to the ground, but not from being on fire? What about the puller overer person? What happened to their car? Was it a car? Why didn't they just let you burn?

The trooper or sheriff or whatever she was followed us for about a mile before she pulled us over. We figured she called a Fire truck but by the time the firetruck came it was to late. A tow truck put up a valiant effort trying to put us out. He even towed us to a Isuzu Dealer in Nevada after the fire was out...

I have wrecked several trucks over the years. It wasn't my first rodeo....

In the cleavage of the Tetons
I had an Isuzu trooper burn to the ground on me. Hot enough it melted the alloy rims!
Turns out it was a chronic problem with the Automatic transmission, especially when trying to go from rev/forward to get out of a Snow bank.
I paid 9 for it. The adjuster took one look at it, and cut me a check on the spot for $17,500.
Turns out they had boatloads of claims on these.
Best P.O.S. I ever bought!
And yes...I bought a standard....

Old US Cities like Boston are also a mess. The main problem is cities built before urban planning and after someone invented that idea. Also Paris or Szczecin are pretty well planned. LA on the other hand is as far from it as possible

Where is that?

Sichaun province Chongquin (anglo Chung King) China. Like Beijing it is resisting efforts to Modernize through grand development efforts. Basically the Chinese Goverment wants to build a Rail Corridor through the the Valley to the territory they annexed from India (Arunachal Pradesh).

Boston was a very planned city. However much of the city wasn't designed for the Automobile. LA was where the Subdivision concept of Urban planning was mastered. Just about every square mile of the city was planned. In fact other then areas downtown you would be hard pressed to find anywhere in LA that wasn't planned if only because of water distribution.

My bad. Everyone I know that has been or lived in any of those cities complains about moving from a to b there but you know more than me. Still, yurp cities were also often planned. Just as the case of boston, not for cars.
Though for example Warsaw was never and still isn't so the city is enormous given the population.
