I don't get sesame seeds on bread. You can't really tell that they are there until they get stuck in your teeth. I bet it is the result of the dentistry industrial complex.
Sesame seeds add subtle hints of earthiness to the bread. That or the baker doesn't wash his hands often enough.

These imparted a slight nutty taste. I like them. It isn't a Scola roll unless its got seeds on it. The spicy sausage and sweet capacolla where off the hook. Super sharp provolone, peppers both sweet and hot, delicious dressing. Man that was tasty.
