haha, yeah that's a way to look at it I guess. Something like he was using more then his share of time for a school project.

I do allot of milling on my old handle machine. I showed pics of his bike to the cnc guys that I use and they were blown away that it was a kids school project.

That bike is bad a$$. To bad he got kicked off the cnc before he totally finshed it.
aww shucks....thanks guys

it was pretty much finished as the original design submission went, although some corners were cut...or not cut i should say. Payed one of the machinists to do some minor work for design revisions or whatever later on.

Really there would of been no end to the...uhh, abuse of the faculties. So once the course was officially over so was my reign of terror.

Maybe i should go back to do my Masters for a 2nd generation bike....

I had a rare RFX with a 1.5" headtube. Sold it to a fellow :monkey: . Replaced it with an equally rare (1 of 2) RFX with Easton tubing and a 1.5" headtube.

I know it's not really rare, but I've never seen one in real life so I'll throw out tomac, in the same category would be cortina, not that they are rare bikes, it just seems like it's impossible to find a dealer that carries them.

Shimano Airlines, that was a rare group. Air shifting sounded so cool "Pffft, click, pfft, click" ;)

I shoulda put my Airlines on my ATX DH Prototype DH frame eh? That'd be plenty rare, one of 2 frames left in the world...with a weird-ass shifting system...
Back when I was rocking a Tomac 204 (first year of production), I'd get tons of looks from people, especially when I was at a race like Sea Otter. "Whoa, there's a Tomac!"
That ruled.

That would be pretty rare. Now you'd also have to score the prototype Shimano double disc brakes. You know the ones teams were soaking the brake pads in oil to give them something resembling modulation :p

I remember Shaums had a set with radiators for cooling the fluid, pretty rediculous, but cool.

Or even the Shimano Drum brake that had all those cooling fins on them. I remember reading that was insainly expensive to build. Stick probably has insite on those, i think Lopes ran them.

Rare stuff I've had:

Storm Cycles Corner Worker Not many of those made
Storm Cycles H2 with a Stars and Stripes paint job, only 2 made this one had custom geometry.

Sun Phat Albert Rims, possibly the worst DH specific rim ever made, it turned into an egg 1/2 down the course it's first run, i think it took like a month for sun to figure out they should stop selling them.

Not DH or MTB, but a Set of Mavic 3g Aero wheels, the coolest looking aero wheel i think ever made.
