Have you ever noticed how some bikes look completely badass in person versus what your perceived ideas of them are based on pics you see on the internet and in magazines?

Case in point: I was in a LBS today, looking for something, when out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of an '04 IH SGS Expert sitting there amongst the VT's and a coiler. Having seen umpteen pictures of this bike in mags and on the 'Net, I guess I had already formed the opinion that it wasn't quite what I was looking for. But.....I gotta tell ya, even though it was the lower end Expert model, I was really impressed with how nice this bike looked. That super-big downtube, the geometry, the paint, the Sherman up front.....it all added up to one sweet package.

Lesson learned-----look before you leap. See before you speak.

Good job, Iron Horse....you make a nice bike.

Your face.
With Iron Horse in particular, I find thier pics dont' do them justice at all. In person, the bikes are so beautiful, and just so solid. The pics make them look kind of cheaper, which is totally unfair. We were blown away when ours got here, and when we compared them to the pics, it was like a totally different bike.

weird.

Guys, thanks for the props. It's sometimes hard to get the shots done right so it translates into what the bike really is. Case in point is the 05 Sunday World Cup.

I find the same true for photos of women, except reversed.

Well.......the World Cup is a bit much for me, but that damn SGS felt sweet!!

There was a great photo in MBA of the SGS when they tested it a few months ago. It was that, shot-from-the-back-looking-forward, but at a slight diagonal look. That is my favorite photo angle of any bike---lets you get a "riders viewpoint" of things. Even still, it really didn't convey the total burliness this bike projects. I was really impressed, and shall try to aquire one of these.

To be honest i wasnt impressed with the first pics of the 04 DHR that i saw. The side view with the square tubes looked funny.....but, then i saw one in person..... and even better rode one...... .... I wonder if the new Highline will have the same effect??

Is that why you were sporting beanie and sun glases in Whistler so we did not have to see your face :p

speaking of the 04 DHR, saw one here in SA last week, we have an agent now, can't believe how big that thing is, those romic shocks look small in the pics, esp. not having a resiovoir, but its a fat mother in real life......

yeh man we have a large pro chillen in the shop. its kinda funny though any time we have a customer come into the shop it either gets blank stairs, the ohh my gosh (jaw hits the floor), or we part it out to get someones bike going again. it now has no pedals front tires or tubes. lol who know what is missing now i havent been up there in a little bit. but yeh man there awsome bikes. and if anyone in asheville is looking for a large freeride bike stop in at epic and take a look at it. all bikes are on sale 30% off over 1000$

I'll agree with the guy that said your hucks feel and look bigger in real life then when you see them captured on film/digitally

Also...the VP Free looks so sexy in person

nothing will ever be as beautiful as the m1 in picture and in person.... RIP

223 look much better in the flesh, the detail really stands out

Large DH9's with Shivers look awesome in the flesh, unbelievably long, low and slack.

I think the SGS is ugly but hopefully will be buying one if I can get my hands on one, so im glad you folks think they look good.
