Hey guy's Ive been having issues with my rear HUB for the last few months (loose wheel, weird noises etc) so my bike shop called Norco for a warranty HUB. It's been 2 months now with not a sign of a new HUB. So I asked someone on mtbr.com who had the same problem (he worked at a bike shop) and claims the HUB that comes stock on the 04 Norco 4HUN was a prototype and can no longer be found. "REAR HUB: Formula 135x10 thru hole 36H". So now what? There is no way i'm going to give in easy and spend alot of $ on a SAINT compatable HUB just because Norco cannot get me a new one. What kind of emails/actions should I take? So far for my first norco warranty experience hasn't gone so well.

well if its a warranty they probably dont have to replace it with exactly the same thing, just something that will do the job and hopefully of the same standard. so they should still be getting you sorted
I geuss the problem there is the LBS corresponding with the Warranty guy at Norco. Maybe if I run this info that the HUB is no longer avail and get something from the shop and maybe Norco will refund it or something..... Dunno how LBS's do business with warranty stuff.

135mm is a std hub spacing right? 10mm is the same as a QR axle right? Will a std wheel work? I have a AC Aircooler that is a 10mm bolt on hub so maybe they might work. I am not terribly impressed with the AC but it might be an option. www.adventurecomponents.com I think is the web addy.

How is the Norco 4hun frame diff, does it need that hub? Maybe just a solid axle conversoin of a Shimano? Just brainstorming.

I honestly don't know anything about HUBS. I just know it has to be saint comptable with the through axel. The 4 HUN frame has horizontal drop outs and doesnt appear to need any special sort of rear HUB. Thanks for the offer. But i'm going to press my LBS and Norco to get me a HUB the equal structure/$. I spent 2300$ on a bike and i'll be dammed to spend more on something that was not caused by me :)

My Rotec has Horizontal Drops and uses the AC. not the best set up mind you but it works for me.

Thanks for the offer.
I wasn't offering anything of mine! :D Just letting you know who has something that might work. :)

I understand. Just throwing some ideas out, just incase things don't get straightened out.

It's actually a weird situation. I just went down to the lunch room to look at the hub name. And it has axiom stamped on it. So you look for axiom and their site is www.norco.com/axiom. It doesnt even have HUBS on it!! And the bike stat's say its a formula HUB. Very strange. Since it's been a few months i'm going to the LBS and telling him to put a Gold Chris king on it and send the bill to norco. If they want my next bike to be a norco they better smarten up. Ive had better customer service so far from Kona and I don't even own one.

in the future, dont say "Saint compatible" because that would mostly refer to the splined brake rotor mount, something you definitly dont want. The Saint derailler simply needs a 10mm through-axle hub, which isnt something special for the Saint derailler, it just happens to use one. Just saying to avoid any confusion in the future.

We are so confident of the quality of our Axiom Performance Gear products that many are backed by our "Lifetime / No Hassle" guarantee.

To me Axiom is a generic product manufacture/component line that I used to find in my Trek Dealer in college (circa 1994ish)

I even bought a neato polished aluminum seat post kinda looked like a tompson. Didn't holdup like one though. ;) It might have been a line that sounded/looked like AXIOM but I suspect it was just stuff that was rebadged and marketed as their own.

It is conceivable that they are using Formula hubs with their name on it.

Axiom is Norcos house brand, doubt they were around back then. I bought their RoadGap pedals and DH seat which are pretty nice, and my LBS says service with them has been great.

as for the service problem of the poster, really sounds like a problem with the LBS to me, but who knows...

Zedro thanks for the tip. Its a 50/50 split. Half is norco not being able to send a hub. and the other half is the LBS for not doing something about it (ie puting a new hub on for free)
