Rear hub suggestions

I'm poised to build up my freeride/park bike here in the next couple of weeks (come on tax return!), but have yet to tie up a few loose ends on the complete build. I'm pretty sure I want a bolt on axle type rear hub, namely for the stiffness gains and for durability as this bike will see a lot of jumps, drops, and general abuse in the bike park here at Snowshoe.

The bike I am getting has qr dropouts (135mm spacing obviously) and I will most likely be running a WTB LaserDisc dh wheelset.......or at least the front wheel and a rear rim due to sponsorship reasons. As far as the rear hub is concerned, I have a lot of options available to me, but I am really trying to narrow those options down. Any potential hub must be both durable and affordable. Looking around on the net and through the various catalogs, here's what I have picked out to ask about:

Atomlab Aircorp disc bolt on rear hub
Atomlab GI disc bolt on rear
DaBomb Headspin 10mm/135mm bolt on
Gusset Jury Disc 10mm/135mm bolt on
Woodman Bill Extreme Disc 10mm/135mm bolt on

Now, I have heard some negative things about the Atomlab hubs in the past, but haven't heard anything as of late. The DaBomb and Gusset I have never heard a thing about nor seen in person. Woodman seems like the best option, as everything I have ever seen of theirs is top notch, but again I haven't heard anything pertaining to this hub.

So, does anyone have any experience or comments pertaining to those above? Suggestions, comments, etc are all welcomed. Weight isn't a big concern, but durability, relialibility, and cost are. I'm not afraid to plunk down the extra coin on a product if it's worth it, but I'm not into paying extra for a name or perceived quality based on marketing and such.

Atom labs have sucked for tech support etc......I'd probably stay away from those. Out of your choices probably the Woodman would be the best choice.

There's other TA options that you can use to run 10mm if needed. I don't wanna give you the most expensive hub possible but it is too versitle not to say. The Hadley SDH hubs. You can go from QR/10mm/12mm/15mm+ all with just an axle and adapter kit Plus they have probably the best track record of any rear hub. Rear hubs you do get what you pay for.

Alot of companies make 12mm TA hubs in 135mm but I haven't seen alot of 10mm applications.

My vote would be Hadley. Hell the hub will probably outlast your bike (Hadley's are like the King headsets of the hub world. You could always go King rear ISO disc with the fun-bolt setup. That would be another option.

Hadley is definitely my first choice, if money wasn't of concern. I have a Hadley 20mm front hub and can only say great things about it. As much as I don't want to comprimise on the build of this bike, the rear hub might be one area where I end up having to save a little cash for now. Although, if I were to go with the Hadley, I could swap the wheelset between my Giant dh team and the new rig when the need arises.....hmm.

of those listed, Woodman Bill Xtreme......

i gave mine a thrashing last year downhilling on my hardtail with out a problem! the only other hub that i've had experience with were the XT's, bent several solid axles with them. this is certainly a heavy duty hub....they feel it too.

I've heard the Atomlab MTN are much better than the older ones. Much bigger bearings. Hadleys are the way to go if you have the Cash and can find someone....there is a massive shortage of them at least in 12mm 135.

If the Hadley isn't an option, I'd go with the one with the best engagement system, i.e. more pawls. I recently began running a Hadley rear, and it made my bike much more responsive. It's an important but underrated rider/bike interface.

Can't wait to get up to your mountain again, btw. :thumb:

Avoid Atomlab at all costs. I had one of their rear hubs completely seize up, and then it took about 6 months to finally get a replacement warranty hub. Their products and customer service are horrible.

In all honesty, these could come out of the same factory. Not stating it as fact, but likely.
