so i threw this up on PB but it takes to long to get an answer

is having a bottom out bumper that is hard bad? my 5th got sent in a while back because the rebound blew and when i got it bad it had this white bumper on it rather than the orange spongy one it had when i sent it in. so yes bad, or no doesnt matter?

Do you know if this bottom out bumper is actually any harder than the orange one?

Anyhow, no, it's not bad. It's only there to keep you from damaging the shock when you bottom out, not really to provide any additional "travel" (though it does provide a little travel).

If you had sent it to Joe Schmoe down the street and he decided to be smart and change the bumper, I'd question it more, but the Progressive guys know what's best for their shock.

.
I'm still bitter about the 1/8" of travel I've never gotten. I cut one shorter on a Risse shock I had. Everyone should copy romic's bumper. It's the bumpinest.

I cut my bumper off and wrapped a few rubber bands around the shaft instead.. Then I dropped fifteen feet to flat. It was much smoother.

I found Romic bumpers to be the smallest and softest. The bumper on my Stratos El Jefe was huge...and for a 2.75" stroke shock, I only measured 2.5 of 'usable' stroke because of the way it's made...so I cut down the bumper.

Jesus... Didn't Ollie do the same thing last year on his Chumba? Ruined the spring with too much preload? Blew the shock, too, which probably wasn't a coincidence. You'd think they'd learn the most basic bike setup steps. Step 1: PROPERLY SPRUNG SUSPENSION.

BMX race, eh? Might be fun to photograph... Give me a call.
