:help:

Is there an "right way" to mount a rear shock?
Which end is "up"?
I just put a Romic on my Stinky.
Accordiing to Romic's manual the bump stop is oriented towards the "top eyelet". The rebound adjuster is on this end of the shock.
I mounted the shock this way, but the Romic stickers are upside down now.
Did I mount the shock the right way?
Does it even matter which end is up?

Thanks monkeys!

It doesn't really matter for Romics. The only time it really matters is if you have a remote resovoir, because you don't want the hose flexing when the shock compresses.

From a stupid-performance-benifits-that-have-no-actual-value perspective, mounting it with the piston shaft on the bottom gives you a tiny bit less unsprung weight. Realisticly, though, there's a lot of force on a rear shock and it makes no difference.

Just mount it so the adjustments are easy to get at.

Mr. Visions,
Thanks for the response. I spoke with Smitty at Romic yesterday and he told me the same thing. He did recommend I flip the shock over so that I can change springs without havng to take off the reducers. Thanks again

Hadn't even thought of that. That's a good idea - mounting it so you can easily remove the spring.

Have fun with the new shock on the Stinky!

i did this on my stinky after getting a new spring
i then proceeded to over tighten the top shock/linkage bolt which was making my shock flex lots in bad bad ways!!
so don't do that
