Hello, i'm looking to find a shock that is little bigger than what I have and still work correctly within my bike. The shock I have now is a Vanilla R at 6.25i2i and a 1.5 stroke. Could I get away with something like a 6.5-6.75i2i with a 1.75-2.0 stroke? Who makes good shocks in this size range?

My bike is a '99 FSR Elite with the BETD link. It looks like I could run a 6.75i2i and a 2.0 stroke using the lowest setting on the link (4" - 6" adjustable), although the travel may be more than 4" with the new shock. Has anyone done this?

if you do experiment with one of these setups
make sure the swingarm is not going to interfere with anything at full travel eg seat or something like that

plus a longer i2i is going raise the BB and steepen your head angle

It's generally a bad idea to change the shock i2i and stroke on a bike, unless it is designed to (Karpiel I believe for example). Unless you can find a shock for dirt cheap that you can experiment and fool around with, I don't think it's worth it for that frame. It's already quite old and you should probably just start saving for a frame that is designed for the amount of travel you're looking for.
