I'm not in the market right now but am keeping my eyes out for when the time comes.

requirements are;

1. not expensive ($800.00 is WAY too much for me)
2. hard tail
3. somewhat light (think, NOT a Le Toy)
4. short front end
5. small overall.

it will be used for my brand of xc which basicly means I like to ride some milage and run things over. small jumps and drops but mostly just pedaling along. keep in mind I weigh about 145 and am around 5'8"(that's why small is good)

good luck.

Save 200/300 $$ and get a Santa Cruz Chameleon. Everyone I know who has one loves it. I really like the gold color. Looks cool. How many points for that??

I second the Chameleon, a medium has a 22.5" TT, which is pretty darn short.

In fact, I'll sell you my medium white 2004 Chameleon that's been ridden off-road once. If you're interested, PM me.

the transition thing is eight pounds. WAY to much. I'm not dropping off roofs and crap. even if I was, I wouldn't use an eight pound frame.

that banshee is looking good as with the soul cycles thing. still looking though....

Just a little FYI on the Soul Cycles:

All they have for the Titans is the 18" model = 22.8"tt
The smallest Hardline is the 17" model = 22.5"tt

When their 05 models come out in fall/winter, the Titan will only be available as a 15.5" model = 22.3"tt, 69*ht, 71*st, 16.9" cs length. This will be their Aggro trail/FR ht.

They will also have a 14.5" and a 16.5" mtx model. The numbers for the 14.5" model are being tweaked, but for now are: 21.5"tt, 69*ht, 71*st, 16.5" cs length.

If you decide to go the Soul Cycle route, join their rider appreciation program, it's one of the best things going.

it's the same length as the New Jack Flash I had. the same one I got ride of because it was too damm long.....

the actual length of the top tube on my bike right now is 21 inches, center to center. chain stays are 16.6 ish...

I have been for 20 so years.......which is why big bikes are SO freakin big to me. and the front end that squishes all over and tires that are super soft and gears and you get the idea.

im thinking of getting one for temporary wall art- the price is hard to beat! besides, I almost have the whole quiver up and running...with the exception of brakes on the 29er.
