i was just saying on Monday how my cheapo seat clamp works real well and then yesterday I bent it.....

so I'd like to purchase another one.

I'll probably just go to some random bike shop (supergo... :oink: ) and get whatever they have that doesn't cost a bunch.

but are there any that you don't like or that have known problems? I heard someone saying they didn't like the salsa one but they didn't say why...

BS... Get a Salsa.

I have a Salsa QR seatpost clamp on every single on of my bikes.
It has yet to slip on ANY of them.

The only reason that DHGirlie's is slipping is b/c it got Vasoline on it when she was jackin off her new v-10.... cuz its so sexy ;)

I don't have a wank to yank, bro in case you didn't notice, I'm a girl...Also, unlike a lot of you tools, I can say man I LOVE my V10...I even gave it a kiss and hug when they finished it up...but I can enjoy my bike without having to touch myself...I actually have a life...the salsa QR is on my Superlight...it sucks ass...and I'm not the only person who has had issues with them slipping...it slipped even while climbing...it's almost new...it's the right size...and it's tightened as much as it can be without stripping it...

Get the generic one pnj...I've heard good things about them holding tight...

I have had a Salsa QR forever and never had it slip once. Never even have heard of one slipping either. Clamps like a mohamby too. Methinks you might have the wrong size seatpost.....jdcamb

Salsa is what i've always used and i never had any problems, the stock one that came with my Enduro works really really nice as well and it doesn't stick out like the Salsa, don't know if Specialized sells them individually though. Hmm never thought i'd rave about a Specialized stock part......

I have to 2nd or 3rd or 4th the Salsa recommendation. I have used only Slalsa for years now and have no issues. For years of trouble free use, clean the area where the metal lever pivots against the collar and lube it with a dab of grease or a drop of lube every once in a while otherwise it can become gouged and get "sticky" feeling, that is the only potential downfall of the Salsa clamps. otherwise buenisimo! DHG. I think you have one component of your seat equation out of spec, be it seat clamp/post/or seat tube...even if the numbers are "correct" there might be a defective part.

Salsa clamps fall into the same category as King headsets...

-S.S.-

it came on a $280.00 bike.

I just realized I can't get one today because I don't know what size my damm hell seat post tube is. this is why mtn. bikes suck. what is wrong with ONE size for stuff?

It is the superlight that causes the seatpost to slip. My SL does the same damn thing, I have to tighten the bejesus out of it.

I'm so pissed...I had tickets to see Mix a Lot a couple of weeks ago...and I was in vegas the same weekend and I thought the show was on Sunday night. I got home from sin city and started getting ready to go to the show...printed the confirmation and much to my horror I had missed the show... :( sucked big time

Tha salsa fliplock can loosen up, but it has nothing to do with the cam. Put thread compund on the bolt and a little grease on the cam interface and they work great. The bolt like to back out a couple threads periodically.

King headsets.... well thats another story. Overpriced, constantly loosening, garbage! :mumble: Why? Because a fuggin rubber O-ring is the substitute for any compression device. :stosh: Never again! The one on my M1 is the 2nd one I've had on that bike that loosens EVERY ride!

See above..... just insert King Headset where you see Salsa QR. Never had one loosen up on me and have never really heard of one doing that either. I must just be so lucky.... Cool for me.....jdcamb

oh yeah you did...are you good with that stuff? I haven't changed back to the monkey riding a bike cuz it's too big...it's weird cuz that monkey on a bike was fine before, now it says it's too big...everytime I try to resize it...it gets jacked up lookin...plus...I'd LOVE a lighter pink background! :D

The Salsa Clamps I had on my bikes sucked ass also. Hope clamps are pretty nice and the one I have on my DH bikes holds the seat post tight unlike the Salsa one I had on there previously.

Must not have been an '02 Enduro. Mine came with the crappiest post clamp in the world. Not a smart design when you have an exposed shock just below the post. When I warrantied my frame for an '03 model they sent it with a new and much improved clamp. I had already bought a Salsa so now I have both. The Salsa has been very good to me as far as keeping the seat up. As far as the stabby factor... well, it's nailed me a couple times.

Yah it's a new one, guess that makes it a 2004 whatever i don't pay attention....

And i've heard of people getting stabbed by their Salsa and it's never happened to me, but i place the stabby end pointing toward the front, i figure that's the least likely place to get stabbed since
1. usually your behind or over your seat when you crash
2. your seat will likely hold the post from hitting you in case you land on your top tube, in which case you'll be worrying more about your jewels anyways...
