He is definitely the weakest link on that team. Since he came over I've been asking, "why?"

I must have missed what he did on Friday to warrant this rant. But I'm assumming it was another Error with poor plate results.

Wasn't Friday the game where Bay almost got out at Second base when he was trying to steal with someone on Third, but there was no one covering second, so the pitcher had no where to go?

Julio Lugo is locked in for another year at $9 million, too. Ugh. And Matsuzaka...holy crap .

But at least Josh Beckett and Jon Lester are coming back to form. Talk about a strong 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation! And it seems really strange that Papelbon has been one of the shakier members of the bullpen lately. Tells you something about the 'pen. Daniel Bard is going to be a hell of a pitcher.

Not necessarily. They could trade him and still pay part of his salary. (If they can find someone that actually would take him). It's better to pay $4.5m for nothing instead of $9m. :twitch:

Bard needs to learn better location with his fastball.

I have tix to Thurs Game. Not sure how Penny vs Sabathia will pan out. Probably get rained out anyway. Maybe we'll see Wang and Wakey. It would mark the third time I've seen Wakefield this year.

I'm going to be at the game a week from today, which would have Wake pitching if the rotation stays on schedule. That would put him as the starter for both games I've seen this year.

6-0 vs the Yankees this season. That's great but it makes me kind of itchy.

Josh Beckett: 1 ER total over his last four starts. 1.72 ERA since May 1 (5-0).

Was at last nights game, good times. I love watching the Sox beat up on the Yankees!! And I even got to be present for Ortiz's third homer of the season! Of course, it's all he did all night...

I remember being incredibly drunk, so yeah.

And Gary Carter did his best work when he was on the Mets.

Agreed. But he moved from Montreal to NY the same time I did, so I've always liked him.

The Sports in Town or whatever the fvck that is can't even get their reporting right. That's 9 straight wins for the Sox, not 8.

As far as hitting batters goes, I think it's part of baseball but at the same time I don't hope it happens or anything.

HOWEVER... I loved watching A-Rod get beaned!!!:clapping:

I want to congratulate the Red Sox and their fans for a great rivalry and season. It has been a great season, and it is appropriate that the Yankees clinch the Division at home against the Red Sox.

You're not still angry over that 8 game, three series sweep to start the season are you? Or is it the ALCS comeback in '04? How embarrassing it must have been to not be able to close out the series, up 3 games to none, no less.

NY Yankees - AL East Champs: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008.

World Series championships they won during that time: None.

But at least Yankee fans have those division titles to enjoy.

i would imagine their cumulative payroll during that stretch would eclipse the GDP of most African countries.

Hey Sanjuro!

That is all.

Actually, we did that on purpose so we could clinch the wildcard at home. We were playing for it anyway. It would have been stupid to clinch a post season berth at Yankee stadium with the division still undecided. Now we have something to celebrate tonight when Fire Marshall Bill gets his 8th win of the season.
