This bike always felt too XC to me, it had me stretched more forward and low Than I was comfortable with.It placed to much weight on the front end and gave me that I'm going to wash out feeling. That and the grips sucked big time. Today I added a slightly shorter but more angled stem which put the bars an inch higher and a half inch rearward and some ODI lock on grips

I took it out and did some small jumps and hops. It feels right but only a good hard ride will tell.

Good to hear it worked out for you! I am in the same predicament myself. Luckily you were able to accomplish this with just a stem. For me, I think the bars will have to be swapped out as well (the feel a little narrow). Let us know after a few more rides if it still is working for you.
