Removing Marzocchi Z150FR Coils

Alright... I've looked through the archives and I can't seem to find anything about removing the coils on the Z150. I got the topcaps off and can see where the shaft connects to the caps, but I'm not quite sure what I should do from there. It looks like there's a red 10mm nut... I'm inclined to put a wrench on it, and put the 21mm socket back onto the cap and unscrew it, but I just want to make sure I don't screw anything up!

Any other advice/words of wisdom regarding changing the oil would be appreciated as well.

Thanks!

ok, so here's what I'm looking at... I'm not too versed in the vernacular, so I figure the picture will help rather than stretching out a string talkin about how the dingus attaches to the hooziwhazzamajiggy. ;) :D

Hmm...keep in mind, I've only changed my oil once :)

I'm sure that you'll get some more knowledgeable replies tomorrow...but I wouldn't take a wrench to anything. With the preload adjusters off, and no c-clip, it should just slide out. I'm not sure what is holding it together. Sorry I can't be of more help.

The red 10mm is a jam nut. Supposedly you break it loose until it tightens down on the shaft then it will stop and cause the top cap to break loose. It's all regular threaded. If you do manage to get the top cap off put it back on the shaft finger tight then run the jam nut up against it and turn it 1/8 turn past finger tight to lock everything in place.

On my 888 the jam nut started to expand like it was going to split and the top cap never came loose. I'm going to have to use some kind of axle vise to hold the shaft and keep it from turning. OR send the fork back to Marzocchi for a spring and oil change.

Good Luck!!!

Put a 10mm socket on the nut below the top cap to hold it and keep the thing from spinning, and pop the 21m on the topcap and open er up. It took a while of me staring at mine going "how the hell do I do this" before I figured it out.

There also USED to be a good guide for z150's here:
http://www.daevh.co.uk/z150-service
But it doesnt exist anymore.
ill see if I can grab a cached copy of it somewhere.
