Seems like a bit of a silly thing to do. I once had my fork serviced by tf tuned and they forgot to put an oil seal in the right leg of the lowers when rebuilding it back up. 1st run down on an uplift day, dust wiper seals and foam rings at the top of the stanchions, oil everywhere. I wasn't particularly happy but I phoned them up and they sorted it FOC which was great of them.
Just keep your lowers well lubricated and perhaps lube your stanchions with a silicon spray such as juice lubes, and I'm sure your forks will feel smooth enough without the need to go about removing seals!
