I'm having trouble getting the bushings out of my Vanilla R off of my Norco. I've tried the being nice approach as well as the beating the hell out of it with a hammer and piece of wood approach, and I can't get it to move more than a few millimeters. Any suggestions?

My method:
I have a 3/8" socket that is the same size as the shock eye without bushing (The bushing ID is 1/2", so the socket is a little wider than that). I also took a ~18mm socket for the backing. An extra set of hands makes this easier, but 1 person can do it. Place the whole thing in a vise and push the bushing out. This seems to be the standard "ghetto tools" approach. A few people make something that works like a chain tool, but the vise and socket approach works well enough that I don't think too many people have it.
