Well you seem to be implying that the proclamations of Muslim extremists are a tenant of the religion.
I love the double standards from the left. If two Christians did what (more than a few millon out of a billion or so) Muslims do, you guys would be shouting from the mountain tops about how ALL Christians are such extremists.

The issue that Bachman should have been more direct on was WRT Sharia law. Do you believe that it is insignificant that Sharia law is getting a foothold into England?

Christians have been performing despicable acts for years. I don't think anyone here is blind enough to miss that. Perhaps the "guys" you believe have never seen a bad Christian are simply not incredibly ignorant?

More horrible **** has been done over the years in the name of an alledgedly just and forgiving gawd then in any other name. Bachmann and the rest of the right wing Neo Nazis...I mean Conservatives, are no better than Bin Laden or Hitler and Goebbbels. Not hesitating to tell people what to read, think, who and how to worship or do with their bodies. Screw them. This country was predicated on the loose concepts of freedom. Freedom to read, think, worship, etc...

thanks to sanjuro's channeling of mmike, i can laugh this whole thread off - except for this.

please compare how many have died in work camps, starvation, and outright genocide furthering a political agenda to those committed in the name of whatever god.

here, i shall wait.

Stinkle, how many died during the Crusades? From both sides? All the Neo Cons want to do is start a new Crusade. And how many political movements cloak themselves in Godly garments? Palin seems to want to. I will say this for McCain, he seems fairly moderate religiously, which will cause problems with St. Sarah.

As far as wanna bes, who is banning books? Republicans, because they know best. Who wants to tell women what they can/cant do with their bodies, Republicans. Who is constantly intertwining church and state? Republicans.

~2Million from the crusades over 200 yrs; compare that to 50Million (conservative est.) from the spread of communism last century

people from both sides of the aisle want to prevent age-inappropriate books from being in school libraries, including the anarchist cookbook, and pornography. would you have kids learning about pr0n & how to kill their classmates thanks to the resources provided at the columbine library? i would expect you should equally "outraged" at filters on public library computers. so clear this up for me: are you?

you seem to think there's more moral currency to be had letting anyone & everyone do what they want just so you can claim you're not offending or offputting, but here's a reality for you: you cannot proclaim a liberty or a right for one group at the expense of another. i bet you would actually sleep better at night knowing women could "exercise their right" to have an unnecessary 3rd trimester abortion than they actually have to bear the "burden of a mistake" & put it up for adoption. or perhaps you take the "bold stand" for underage girls to get an abortion w/o their parents' permission, but with the funding from the public trough. hey, don't want to go around messing w/ women's bodies & their privacy...

i didn't know our founding fathers were republicans. (they seemed more like whiggers to me)

if things really get out of hand i might find myself voting at a church in 8 days.

oh wait...

My point, besides revealing my inability to pronounce R's, is that doesn't matter to me if you are Christian, Jew, Muslim, or atheist.

In this country, there should be no superior culture, no superior view. We should treat all religions and cultures with respect.

I wouldn't debate which religion killed the most people. It is stupid.

Sorry, telling someone what they CANNOT do with their body is the problem. Granting a group this liberty is not at the expense of anyone. Just because it offends some doesn't mean it is at their expense. They do not have to exercise this right if they do not like it. End of story. CHOICE is the key ingredient. Removing civil liberties to calm a fundamental base is not.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard you say dude, don't go all n8 on us.

i'm of the camp those in-utero are worth defending, much like those just a few months older. to me, there's nothing magical about the instant in time where a baby becomes completely separated from the birth mother that only then rights descend from the heavens of dead white men

yes, i'm crazy like that.

ed: for me, life begins @ conception, not birth, not viability outside the womb, and not implantation. huh?

First, correct for population and technology. Second, while communism is no picnic, does that make Christianity all rainbows and puppy dogs?

A sledge-hammer is not as dangerous a weapon as a gun, but that doesn't mean I'm going to hand one to a crazed lunatic.

certainly access to both victims & recruits has a direct effect on the balance sheet
republicans =/= crusaders, and even if it were the case, they certainly weren't the greatest offenders (especially when considering living history) was the main thrust.

Right, and you are more than free to believe/value that. However, when your beliefs infringe upon someone else's rights to do what they want with their own bodies, there is a problem. No one says you HAVE to have an abortion, just because it is legal. However, if someone i know is raped and becomes pregnant, your belief DOES infringe upon their ability to do as they wish. There-in lies the problem.

Sort of a side note I always found a little funny.

Catholics disapprove of premarital sex, contraception, and abortion. Yet if you have unprotected premarital sex and become pregnant, you can be forgiven. If you get raped, become pregnant then terminate that pregnancy, not so much.

You can ask for forgiveness from God and that's cool, but everyone in church will forever have issue.

Religions make me laugh.

Defending the unborn is a popular term for the right. It is the new baby killer...

Its not as if pregnant women are going to be dragged from the streets and given forced abortions. Having access to available technology is a better option than being forced to bear a "mistake" that may end up on welfare rolls and suck up more of your rpecious tax dollars. But when welfare goes away, we lose that problem, right? Yes, now unwanted baby turns to crime, and becomes yet another statistic in our privately owned jails. Or Mommy can simply get an illegal back alley Tijuana style abortion.

People like to ****. When peopel ****, babies are made. Sometimes the babies are wanted, soemtimes they are not. When they are not, it is IMHO, unfortunatley better to not bring them into the world.

I will never presume to tell another what is best for them. Whether it is reading material, or behavior or what they should eat, drink or smoke. If you want to know my ways, I will share. But I would never dare to preach what is right and what is wrong to another person, because it is a personal judgment.

And yes, filters at the library computers are wrong. But, I look at smut at home. Not in public.
